Vegan Boursin Pasta
Creamy, comforting, and oh so satisfying, this Vegan Boursin Pasta recipe is made with dairy-free garlic and herbs Boursin cheese. Ready in less than 30 minutes, this grown up mac and cheese makes the perfect weeknight dinner.

After trying out the plant-based Boursin garlic and herbs cheese a few years ago I desperately wanted to find recipes that use the cheese in delicious and comforting ways.
While searching for uses, I found a number of different takes on how to make pasta with Boursin cheese. Some of the recipes treated the pasta like a take on Alfredo sauce while others took the baked feta pasta approach.
Both of the ways sounded equally delicious, but I was really seeking to make something like a comforting bowl of mac and cheese.
Using my creamy garlic pasta recipe as a guide, I added the dairy-free Boursin garlic and herbs cheese and my life has never been the same.
Why We Love This Boursin Pasta Recipe
If you were to ask me why I want to make this recipe time and time again I would say:
- 30 minute meal. This dish whips up in 30 minutes or less making it the perfect weeknight dinner.
- Pairs well with everything. I love that this can easily stand alone of you can boost it up with some protein and veggies.
- Comforting. Like a hug in a bowl, this Boursin pasta recipe is one of those stick to your ribs meals that leaves you feeling so cozy.

Dairy-Free Changes to Boursin Pasta
A few ingredients keep this pasta dish both dairy-free and vegan, the dairy-free Boursin cheese, plant butter, and a heavy cream alternative.
- Dairy-Free Boursin Cheese– This one is a must have ingredient to make this recipe. I have not tested this recipe with any other soft dairy-free cheese and currently would not recommend using a different product in this recipe.
- To locate a store near you that sells dairy-free Boursin cheese you can check out their store finder. Be sure to select the dairy-free Boursin in the drop down tab before you search.
- Plant Butter– Used at the base of the dairy-free sauce, you can use your favorite plant butter or olive oil to make the roux.
- Heavy Cream Alternative– Personally I like to use full fat coconut milk to replace heavy cream in this recipe. Alternatively you can use:
- A dairy-free heavy cream alternative like Silk, Country Crock Plant Cream, Califia Farms
- Unsweetened Oat Milk

How to Make Vegan Boursin Pasta
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Pasta– Honestly you can use any pasta you want for this recipe, I personally loved the elbow shape to make it feel more like a classic mac and cheese.
- Plant-Butter– Used in the base of the sauce. You can also use olive oil if you prefer.
- Garlic– Minced or microplaned to evenly distribute the flavor throughout the dish.
- Flour– All purpose flour helps make the roux for the creamy pasta sauce.
- Coconut milk- Full fat coconut milk or a dairy-free heavy cream alternative work great in this recipe.
- Dairy-Free Boursin Cheese– Creamy and tangy, adds a delicious flavor to the pasta sauce.
- Salt + Pepper- Helps highlight the flavor of the creamy pasta.

Step-by-Step Directions for Dairy-Free Boursin Pasta
- Boil water: Bring a pot of water to boil. Once boiling, generously salt the water.
- Cook pasta: Add the pasta and cook according to the package directions. Each type of pasta will have different cook times so you will want to make sure you keep an eye on the pasta while making the sauce.
- Drain: Once cooked, drain and set to the side until the creamy Boursin sauce is finished.
- Cook garlic: In a large skillet melt plant butter and add garlic. Stir until fragrant.

- Make roux: Whisk in flour and cook until lightly golden.
- Add cream: Slowly whisk in the coconut milk, or heavy cream alternative. Cook to thicken, about 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in Boursin: Once thickened, add the dairy-free Boursin and stir until fully melted into the sauce.
- Add cooked pasta to the large skillet and season with salt and pepper.
- Cook down: Cook about 2-3 minutes or until the sauce is your desired consistency.

Tips for Success
When it comes to making a pot of this irresistible vegan garlic and herb pasta these would be the two things you’ll want to keep in mind:
- Pick a pasta your sauce will cling to like:
- Long flat noodles (fettuccini, linguine, tagliatelle, pappardelle)
- Short tube noodles (penne, rigatoni, ziti)
- Bent or twisted pasta (macaroni, orechiette, shells, fusilli, rotini)
- Use a large, deep skillet to cook the sauce. If your pan is too shallow, when you are adding the pasta to the sauce and cooking it down, you might stir the pasta out of the pan.
- If you don’t have a high sided pan to cook the sauce in, I would recommend using a large sauce pan. Remember to pick a pan that will be large enough to stir the cooked pasta into.
Helpful Kitchen Tools
When you are ready to whip up a pan of this creamy vegan pasta, here are some of the kitchen tools you will find most helpful.
- Microplane– Perfect for grating the garlic.
- Silicone coated whisk– The silicone coating is great for keeping your pans from getting scratched when you make the roux.
- Large skillet with high sides– This is so helpful when you add the pasta back to the pan and stir with the sauce.

- Pulled Pork– A scoop of pulled pork with BBQ sauce is honestly one of the best ways I have served this pasta.

How do I store vegan Boursin Pasta?
If you have left-over Boursin pasta, allow to cool before placing in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. This pasta dish will keep up to 5 days in the fridge.
To reheat, place in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 30-second increments stirring every minute or so until your desired temperature. If the sauce is a bit clumpy, you can add a splash of water, or plant-milk during the re-heating to help loosen it up.
