Why We Love these Banana Pudding Popsicles

It’s not hard to drum up reasons to love these delicious and simple banana pudding popsicles. Some of the reasons we keep coming back to them include:

  • All of the flavor of banana pudding wrapped up in an easy to enjoy popsicle.
  • Great use for ripe bananas. Those almost banana bread ready bananas make a perfect addition to this popsicle.
  • Make and store all summer long. I love having a little stash of popsicles I can snack on throughout the summer.
  • Vegan. Thanks to golden Oreos and non-dairy milk, these simple banana pudding popsicles are also vegan.

Dairy-Free Changes to Banana Pudding Pops

Two main ingredients make these banana pudding popsicles creamy yet dairy-free!

  • Golden Oreos– To replace traditional Nilla wafer cookies I used golden Oreos.
  • Oat milk– For the banana pudding base I swapped out traditional milk and used oat milk instead.
    • You could also use almond milk or coconut milk in the instant pudding base.

How to Make Dairy-Free Banana Pudding Popsicles

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Golden Oreos– About a dozen crushed Oreos give you enough cookie crumbs for 10 popsicles.
  • Banana Pudding– A 5.1 Oz box of the instant banana pudding.
  • Oat milk- Used to replace traditional milk in both the banana pudding and filling mixture.
  • Banana– Cut in thin slices to fill the popsicle molds.
  • Vanilla– For a boost of flavor.

Step-by-Step Directions for Banana Pudding Pops

  • Make instant pudding: Mix instant banana pudding with non-dairy milk. Whisk 5 minutes or until thick.
  • Add liquid ingredients: In a large liquid measuring cup add pudding, oat milk, and vanilla, set aside.
  • Prep layers: Crush golden Oreos to desired size and slice a banana into thin disks.
  • Fill the popsicle molds halfway: In the popsicle mold add a layer of crushed Oreo, some sliced banana, and pour the banana pudding mixture to fill the molds about halfway.
  • Finish layers: Repeat with another layer of crushed Oreo, sliced banana, and pudding mixture.
  • Top off the popsicles: End with a little more banana and crushed Oreo before adding the popsicle sticks and closing up the mold.
  • Freeze for at least 4 hours (I like to freeze them overnight).

Helpful Kitchen Tools

When you plan on whipping up these delicious banana pudding popsicles, here are a few tools you might find helpful to have in the kitchen:

  • 4 Cup Liquid Measuring Cup– I use this measuring cup to mix up the popsicle base for easy pouring into the molds.
  • Popsicle Molds– The mold I used is dishwasher safe, easy to remove the popsicles from, and makes 10 popsicles at a time.
  • Popsicle Sticks– The popsicle mold comes with re-useable sticks but if your household is running anything like mine in the summer, we have at least 20 popsicles in the fridge at a time and need the extra sticks.

Tips for Removing and Storing Popsicles

This just might be the hardest part of this no-bake recipe and why I always recommend taking all popsicles out once they are frozen and keeping them in a freezer-safe bag or box so you don’t have to take one out at a time every time a craving hits.

Here are my top two ways of getting the popsicles out of the mold:

  • Wait: Take the banana pudding popsicles out of the freezer and wait for them to thaw about 3-5 minutes before trying to remove from the mold.
  • Hot water: Run the popsicle mold under warm water to loosen up the popsicles and help pull them out more easily.
  • Store: Place the popsicles in a freezer safe container or bag and store up to 3 months (trust me you will eat them much quicker than that…)
