With temperatures still soaring into the 90s here in Georgia, there is nothing I want more than a cool and refreshing dessert. Cue these creamy chocolate fudgesicles. They are made with just a few ingredients and hit the spot every time.

Rich in chocolate flavor, these mini fudgesicles have all the chocolaty flavor you love about this ice cream truck classic treat but without any of the gut-wrenching dairy. They come together in a few minutes and freeze in an adorable mini-popsicle mold.

You can easily make these vegan fudgesicles in a regular popsicle mold if you don’t have a mini mold but you can also pick up these adorable mini popsicle molds on Amazon for a bite-sized treat you won’t feel guilty about indulging in.

How To Make Homemade Fudgesicles

Ingredients You’ll Need

You are just 5 ingredients away from creamy chocolate fudgesicles!

  • Oatmilk– Mixed with the coconut cream to make a creamy base for the fudgesicle that is completely dairy-free.
  • Coconut Cream– The thick part of a full fat coconut milk can or you can also buy coconut cream on its own, usually in the cocktail aisle.
  • Cocoa Powder– Turns these creamy popsicles into a chocolaty fudgesicle!
  • Sugar– For a touch of sweetness.
  • Vanilla– A boost of flavor!

Directions

  • Mix coconut cream, sugar, and vanilla: In a large liquid measuring cup (at least 4 cups) with a pour spout stir coconut cream with the sugar and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add cocoa powder: Next, stir in the cocoa powder until smooth. (I find it easier to mix the cocoa powder with a smaller amount of liquid first to prevent spilling).
  • Add oat milk: Next pour in the oatmilk and stir until combined.
  • Pour into molds: Carefully pour the chocolate mixture into popsicle molds.
  • Freeze until set, at least 4-8 hours.
  • Enjoy!

Helpful Kitchen Tools

  • 4 Cup Liquid Measuring Cup– I use this measuring cup to mix up the popsicle base for easy pouring into the molds.
  • Mini Popsicle Molds– These mini molds are dish washer safe and great for storing the popsicles in the freezer.

Dairy-Free Changes to Fudgesicles

With a few swaps, you can easily make these fudgesicles a dairy-free treat!

  • Oatmilk– Replace traditional milk with a non-dairy milk such as oatmilk for a thick liquid that gives you a creamy base instead of an icy base.
  • Coconut Cream– Mixed with the oatmilk, coconut cream works like a heavy cream/yogurt to keep the fudgesicles creamy instead of icy.
  • Cocoa powder– All natural cocoa powders are a dairy-free addition that make the these fudgy popsicles a chocolaty treat!

Ways To Dress Up Your Vegan Fudgesicles

To make the chocolate coating melt together 1/2 cup of chocolate chips with 2 teaspoons coconut oil. Once melted transfer to a tall glass that makes dipping the fudgesicles a breeze. Once dipped sprinkle with:

  • Crushed Oreo
  • Sprinkles
  • Chopped Nuts

After adding toppings to the dipped vegan fudgesicles, place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and stick in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes to re-freeze these frozen chocolate treats!

Mini vs. Traditional Size

When I first ordered these mini popsicle molds, I honestly thought they would be a regular-sized mold (obviously I did not check the dimensions of the molds before purchasing and went with them because I thought they looked cute). These homemade fudgesicles can easily be made in a regular popsicle mold but this will change the number of popsicles yielded as well as the nutritional information listed below.

This vegan fudgesicle recipe yields roughly 9 mini popsicles and will most likely yield about 4-6 full-sized popsicles. If you make yours with a traditional popsicle mold drop a comment below and let us know how many they made!

How to Store Homemade Fudgesicles

While you are definitely going to want to keep these fudgesicles in the freezer, there are a few different ways you can store these frozen chocolate treats.

  • In the molds: Leave them in the molds and take them out one at a time when you are ready to enjoy one.
  • Storage container: Remove them from the molds and store them in a freezer-safe bag or storage container for quick and easy removal when you want to enjoy one.
  • Decorated: If you are planning to dip and decorate your fudgesicles then I would highly suggest storing them in a freezer-safe container as they will not go back into the molds after dipping.
  • Shelf-Life: These chocolate fudgesicles keep for up to 3 months in the freezer (not that mine have made it longer than 2 weeks…)

How to Get Vegan Fudgesicles Out of Popsicle Mold

This just might be the hardest part of this vegan recipe and why I recommend taking them all out once they are frozen and keeping them in a freezer-safe bag so you don’t have to take one out at a time every time a craving hits. Here are my top two ways of getting the popsicles out of the mold.

  • Wait: Take the fudgesicles out of the freezer and wait for them to thaw about 3-5 minutes before trying to remove from the mold.
  • Hot water: Run the popsicle mold under warm water to loosen up the popsicles and pull them out more easily. Alternatively the mini-popsicle mold has a container the mold goes inside that you can fill with warm water and allow the fudgesicles to sit in and soften a few minutes (1-2) before trying to remove from the mold.
