An affogato is an Italian coffee based dessert. Affogato al caffè, which roughly translates to “drowned in coffee”, is traditionally made with vanilla ice cream and espresso.
This beverage is made with a warm shot of espresso poured over ice cream or gelato. The bitter espresso balances out the sweet and creamy ice cream for a decadent treat perfect for any time of day.
