There are a few truths I have come to learn since adding littles to the house.

  1. Proper preparation is critical to the success of this household.
  2. No matter how much you prepare, you will never truly be prepared.

While I have learned a million and a half other truths (like never ask a question you don’t want to know the answer to…) these two are the most consistently obvious ones.

When I prepare for the morning the night before like emptying the sink, prepping breakfast, and folding the laundry the morning goes a little more smoothly. Or I’m at least better prepared for when something unexpected happens and I have to change my expectations.

These easy dairy-free egg bites have been a huge part of the proper preparation piece as they feed every member of the house with very little work time.

Dairy-Free Changes to Air Fryer Egg Bites

When it comes to making these egg bites deliciously dairy-free, here are a few things you will want to keep in mind.

  • Dairy-free heavy cream alternative– In place of heavy whipping cream or a whole fat milk, I used Country Crock’s Heavy Whipping Cream alternative. It gave the eggs a much fluffier finish without altering the flavor.
    • I did test the recipe with oat milk but was less than thrilled with the results. It works but adds a sweeter finish and resulted in a spongier egg.
  • Omit cheese– I opted for a cheese-free egg bite, while there are many dairy-free cheeses on the market, I try to limit my intake of them and didn’t feel they were necessary for this air fryer egg bites recipe.

  • Salt– To enhance the flavor of the eggs.

Helpful Kitchen Tools for Dairy-Free Egg Bites

This recipe uses a few specific kitchen gadgets you might need to be successful.

  • Egg bites molds– Used to shape and cook the egg mixture into the small egg bites.
    • NOTE- These egg bites are much smaller than the Starbucks ones, I usually eat 3-4 with my breakfast.
  • Air fryer– Used to cook the egg bites quickly and without turning on the oven.
  • Large liquid measuring cup– Perfect for mixing the egg filling and using the pour spout to evenly pour the eggs into the molds.

Step-by-Step Directions for Air Fryer Egg Bites

  • Cook bacon until they are your desired level of doneness and place to the side. (You can also make bacon in advance or use left-over bacon for this recipe).
  • Chop the bacon into bite-sized crumbles.
  • Prepare egg bite molds: Spray the egg bite molds and sprinkle the bacon crumbles into the bottom of the molds.
  • Mix egg filling: In a large liquid measuring cup, mix eggs, heavy cream alternative, salt, pepper, and garlic.
  • Pour the egg mixture into the prepared molds, filling 3/4 of the way full.
  • Stir to mix the bacon into the egg mixture.
  • Preheat air fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 340°F and set the cook time to 7 minutes.
  • Cook dairy-free egg bites: Once pre-heated, add 1 of the egg bite molds to the air fryer and cook 7 minutes.
  • Do not open, rotate, flip, or turn when the air fryer says to turn food, simply allow it to continue to cook until done.
  • Remove: After 7 minutes, remove the egg bites from the air fryer (I used a large spatula to lift the mold out of the air fryer and place on a trivet to cool while I cook the second batch of egg bites).
  • Allow to cool about 2-3 minutes before removing from the mold and enjoying.

Storing and Reheating Air Fryer Egg Bites

I think these egg bites make a great make ahead breakfast. Since they are quick to prep and don’t use the oven, you can easily whip these up during your weekly meal-prep routine.

  • Storing– Allow the dairy-free egg bites to cool completely before placing in an air-tight container. Refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  • Reheating– Place desired amount on a plate and heat in the microwave. I find 45-60 seconds to be the sweet spot in our microwave but if yours is a little more powerful, you might want to back it down to 20-30 seconds and add more as needed.
