Dairy-Free Chocolate Chip Guide
Selecting the perfect dairy-free chocolate chip has never been easier thanks to this Dairy-Free Chocolate Chip Guide. Here is a guide to some of the most commonly found chocolate chips on the market including the taste, bake, price, and availability of each dairy-free chocolate chip.

I began baking dairy-free 6 years ago and over the years have found my go-to products. Between when I started and now, there have been a number of products that have come on the market to help make being dairy-free a little easier.
While I have seen some dairy-free chocolate chips come and go over the years, these have been some of the most consistent chocolate chip varieties available on the market.
This is by no means a comprehensive guide. It is merely an overview of the dairy-free chocolate chips I have used over the last 6 years and can still buy today.

For each chocolate chip I will provide notes about the processing and any labels the packaging may carry as well as the:
- Taste– How the chocolate chips taste on their own?
- Shape– What do these chocolate chips look like?
- Bake– How do they hold up in the baking process?
- Melt- Do they melt well for drizzling and dipping?
- Ingredients– What are these chocolate chips made from?
- Price- How much does a bag of these dairy-free chocolate chips cost?
- Availability– Where can you find these chocolate chips?

Frequently Asked Questions about Dairy-Free Chocolate Chips
Are all dark chocolate chips dairy-free?
No. As with every chocolate product I would highly recommend checking the ingredients list before buying to ensure they are dairy-free.
Traditionally dark chocolate is made from unsweetened chocolate, a sweetener, and cocoa butter. In these instances yes, the chocolate chip is dairy-free.
That said, not all dark chocolate chips are created equal. Many brands slip milk into the ingredients to soften the bitterness of dark chocolate and provide a smoother texture.

Can you order dairy-free chocolate chips online?
Yes. Many of the brands listed above ship directly from their websites as well as from Amazon.
That said, one of the risks in ordering your chocolate chips online is that they might melt and re-solidify during transport. I have had this happen with a 6-pack of chocolate chips and had to scrap my recipes and only use the chocolate for melting and dipping.
One of the ways I work around this is to stock up on my chocolate chips in the cooler months so I am less likely to have to ship chocolate during the heat of summer.
Are there any dairy-free chocolate chips you do not recommend?
I would like to consider myself lucky to only have encountered one dairy-free chocolate chip I would never buy again.
My experience with Pascha’s White Chocolate Chips tainted me from trying their semi-sweet or dark chocolate morsels so I cannot vouch for the quality of those varieties but when I used the white chocolate morsels I was extremely disappointed.
The flavor of the chocolate reminded me of wax, the chocolate melted so substantially during the baking it ruined the cookie dough I was using, and when I tried using it to use it as a chocolate coating it clumped.

I hope this guide helped provide you with some helpful information about the various dairy-free chocolate chips on the market.
