Spoil that special Valentine or your favorite Galentines this year with an all out dairy-free Valentine’s Day Dessert Board! Topped with a dairy-free yogurt dip, vegan hazelnut spread, and homemade salted caramel, this dairy-free dessert board is sure to be a treat!
You know the old adage, never judge a book by its cover? Whelp, I fell victim to the most beautiful book cover I have seen in a long time. For people who preach not to judge a book by it’s cover, those librarians really know how to hook you with their displays…
Thankfully the cover was only the beginning of the beauty of the book Platters and Boards by Shelly Westerhausen. I spent hours pouring over the stunning boards and spreads.
Each page brought a different idea for how to make a simple yet delicious board. After every page, I felt inspired to make a board. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, a dairy-free sweet board sounded too good to pass up!
What’s on this board?
Fruits– Gala apples, fresh strawberries, and raspberries adorn this Valentine’s board.
Dippers– Since this is a sweet board, I went with Honey Maid Graham Crackers, some pretzel sticks, almonds, and large marshmallows to dip into the different dips.
Dips– This board has 3 different dips. A salted caramel sauce, vegan hazelnut spread, and a homemade dairy free yogurt dip.
Dairy-Free Yogurt Dip
To make the yogurt dip, get 1 single serving cup (5.3oz) of a vanilla non-dairy yogurt (I used Silk Almondmilk Yogurt Alternative).
In a small bowl, mix in 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and about 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon with the yogurt. Stir completely until combined.
How to Make a Valentines Day Dessert Board
Begin by making your bowls of dips. Try different sized bowls or jars to add a little variety to the board. Then, place them around the board so you can easily dip or dunk any of the delectable treats.
At this same time, place the marshmallows in a bowl and set the bowl on the board. I put them in a bowl because the marble board they are on spins and they tend to roll. Feel free to place them out of a bowl if you are not using a spinning board.
Next wash and chop your fruits. I sliced the apples into thin slices, kept the raspberries whole, and sliced the strawberries in halves or thirds depending on their size.
Place the fruits around the different dips. I like to have each fruit by a different dip that way you have easy access and aren’t reaching across to get something on the other side to dip into something closer to you.
Fill in the gaps on the board with the pretzels, almonds, and crackers. ENJOY!
Mix it up!
What I love about this board is that you can really mix up all the different toppings to make a tasty treat! A few of my favorites are:
- Graham cracker with vegan hazelnut spread and a strawberry on top.
- Pretzel dipped in yogurt with a raspberry on top.
- Two apple slices with sated caramel in between.
