As the months get a little warmer, my ice cream cravings get a little stronger which is why I am so glad to have found the joy of making no churn ice cream.
Learning how to make no churn ice cream last summer was a game changer. I often find dairy-free ice cream to come out hard and icy but that hasn’t been the case with the no churn options I have tried.
I think it has to do with the sweetened condensed plant-milk resulting in a smoother ice cream texture that makes these no churn ice creams such a hit.

Vegan Changes to No Churn Vanilla Ice Cream
To make this simple no churn ice cream a plant-based dessert there are two ingredients you will want to use.
- Plant-based heavy whipping cream. I used Country Crock’s plant-based heavy whipping cream alternative to make a homemade whipped cream.
- Sweetened condensed oat milk. Adds a creamy texture and sweetens the ice cream based. You can also use a sweetened condensed coconut milk if you prefer.
How to Make Vegan Vanilla Ice Cream
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Plant-Based Heavy Whipping Cream– Used to make the vegan whipped cream base.
- Sweetened Condensed Oat Milk– Fro sweetening the ice cream while also giving it a smooth texture.
- Vanilla– Fro that iconic vanilla ice cream flavor.
- Salt– Just a pinch to balance out the sweetness.

Step-by-Step Directions for No Churn Vanilla Ice Cream
- Make whipped cream: In the base of a stand mixer fitted with a whisk attachment, whip heavy whipping cream alternative on high for about 2 minutes, or until thick and fluffy.
- Stir in remaining ingredients: Add the sweetened condensed oat milk, vanilla, and salt to the whipped cream.



- Mix until evenly distributes.
- Transfer: Pour into a large, freezer-safe container that can hold up to 10 cups.
- Spread + cover: Spread evenly and cover with plastic wrap.
- Freeze: Place in the freezer and freeze overnight or for at least 8 hours.
