Quick and dairy-free, this simple recipe for Pizza Toast makes a great after school snack or easy weeknight dinner. This easy and versatile pizza toast can be made in the oven or air fryer.

Summer is too toasty to be spending unnecessary time fussing over food and this Pizza Toast can be made in the oven or the air fryer for a quick and easy lunch, snack, or dinner that everyone will enjoy.
What is Pizza Toast?
As simple as the name suggests, pizza toast is a riff on pizza using a slice of bread as the base. The toasted bread is then topped like a pizza with sauce, cheese, and all of the fabulous toppings you love.
It makes a great snack, lunch, or dinner when you are craving pizza but aren’t up for ordering or making your own pizza at home.
Why We Love This Simple Pizza Toast
My love for pizza anything is far and wide. Pizza quesadilla? Yes. Pizza English Muffin. You Bet Cha! This dairy-free pizza toast is on repeat for a million reasons including:
- Versatile. These little slices of toast can be topped with whatever you love to put on your pizza.
- Quick. Making this easy pizza toast in the air fryer is quicker than calling your local pizza place. You can have a snack on the table in under 5 minutes.
- Kid friendly. This is a great recipe for getting your littles involved. They will love putting various toppings on their own slice of toast.
Dairy-Free Changes to Pizza Toast
There are two parts to this recipe that make it dairy-free. First is the bread and the second being the dairy-free cheese.
- The Bread– Be sure to check the ingredient label on the bread you plan to use for this recipe to make sure it is dairy-free.
- Dairy-Free Cheese– Pick your favorite dairy-free cheese to use as the base of this simple pizza toast or omit it if you prefer. Some dairy-free cheeses I have used on this recipe include:
How to Make Dairy-Free Pizza Toast
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Bread– I used white bread for the pictures but have also tested this recipe with french bread, wheat bread, and sourdough.
- Sauce– A basic pizza sauce or marinara sauce work great in this recipe.
- Dairy-Free Cheese– A shredded plant-based mozzarella gives the look and feel of traditional pizza.
- Toppings– Any topping you love for a pizza.
Oven Baked Pizza Toast
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Once pre-heated, place your sliced bread on a baking sheet.
- Toast: Bake the bread for 5 minutes to crisp up the slices.
- Top: After 5 minutes, remove from oven and top with sauce, dairy-free cheese, and toppings.
- Bake an additional 8 minutes.
- Cool: Remove from oven, allow to cool slightly and enjoy!
Air Fryer Directions for Pizza Toast
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F.
- Once preheated, add sliced bread to the air fryer basket.
- Toast for 2 minutes. You do not need to flip.
- Top: After 2 minutes, remove from the air fryer and top with sauce, dairy-free cheese, and toppings.
- Air fry for an additional 2 minutes.
- Cool: Remove from the air fryer, allow to cool slightly and enjoy!

- 2 Tablespoons Pizza Sauce
- 2 Tablespoons Vegan Cheese
Instructions
Oven Baked Pizza Toast

Preheat the oven to 400°F.

Once pre-heated, place your sliced bread on a baking sheet.

Bake the bread for 5 minutes to crisp up the slices.

After 5 minutes, remove from oven and top with 2 Tablespoons pizza sauce, 2 Tablespoons dairy-free cheese, and any additional toppings.

Air Fryer Pizza Toast

Preheat your air fryer to 350°F.
